Biocompatibility Rating Scale

1.0: Derived from Terran rootstock. Examples: Earth, Zoo, any human-terraformed world
0.9: Close biochemistry, may have some intrinsic poisons or lack of nutrients. Atmosphere will be breathable with no problems. Examples: Londenium, Kanon
0.8: Divergent biochemistry, though manageable with appropriate supplements. Atmosphere will remain breathable. Examples: Van Lang
0.7: Strongly divergent biochemistry; substances will be poisonous and/or provide no nourishment. Atmosphere may not be entirely breathable. Examples: Haraway's World
0.6: As rating 0.7, but atmosphere is poisonous and requires breathing apparatus. Examples: Pandora (from Avatar)
0.5: Atmosphere is poisonous upon skin contact.
0.4: Negligable biosphere but atmosphere is relatively benign. Examples: Erebus
0.3: Negligable/no biosphere with unbreathable atmosphere. Liquid water exists on the surface. Examples: Adhara
0.2: Negligable/no biosphere with unbreathable atmosphere. Liquid water can exist outside but is not common. Examples: Theia
0.1: Negligable/no biosphere with deadly atmosphere/climate. Full environmental protection required. Examples: Mars
0.0: No biosphere, no atmosphere of mention and/or hostile climate. Titan, any asteroid.

Terran

Biocompatibility Rating: 1.0

Known Worlds: Earth, Zoo
The Precursors spread Terran-derived life to an unknown number of worlds. To date, three have been discovered.

Asakuran

Biocompatibility Rating: 0.9

Known Worlds: Kanon, Heaven's Shore, Azadestan.
The planet Kanon had naturally-evolving life which has been found on two other worlds. Named for Dr. Nao ASAKURA, Asakuran biology is remarkably close to Terran life - close enough that efforts to prevent contamination are impossible. A human can subsist almost entirely on the Asakuran biome, requiring only supplements for complex essential nutrients and many other life forms have no difficulty colonising Asakuran worlds. Many have proven invasive on Heaven's Shore in particular, where biointegrity is not high on priority. Asakuran biology tends towards brightly-colored pseudoavians as its dominant animals, with megafauna on Heaven's Shore tending to be larger and more aggressive while Kanon has a low-threat character. Both have creatures physically larger than any on Earth owing to lack of humanity, somewhat lower gravity, and higher oxygen content. The Azadestani biosphere has adapted to the predominantly arid conditions on the planet, and tends towards large, extremely dangerous hexapedal reptilian lifeforms, and plants similar to desert plants back on earth. Sea life is abundant, and is just as large and dangerous as life on dry land.

Livenan

Biocompatibility Rating: 0.8

Known Worlds: New Mercia
The Livenan metabiome seems to have originated on the moon of a greenbelt gas giant, as all examples of this family are on inner-system gas giant moons. Favoring somewhat less radiative flux than Earth, they are generally characterized by cold, often ice age conditions and life adapted for this.
Eruban

Biocompatibility Rating: 0.4

Known Worlds: Erebus
Unfortunately, Livenan metabiomes appear to have been put on relatively marginal worlds and in several cases they suffered a complete biological collapse into an 'icebox' status, leading to the extinction of all life more complex than bacteria. However, with proper tools they can be habitable again.

Harawayan

Biocompatibility Rating: 0.7

Known Worlds: Haraway's World, Whileaway
With a pleasant climate and abundant alien ecology, Haraway seems at first glance to be a paradise. However, the invisible threat of the massive amounts of heavy metals in its atmosphere, water and soil render it potentially lethal to unprotected and unmedicated humans who are exposed to it, or ingest too much of its produce.
